Gateway Host Requirements

To ensure stable performance of your Data Plane, Gateway hosts should meet these minimum specs:

  • OS: Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+ recommended) with Docker or Docker Compose installed.

  • CPU/RAM: 2 vCPU / 4GB RAM (Adjust based on expected concurrent sessions).

Network & Firewall Configuration

Gateways require outbound connectivity to communicate with the Control Plane and facilitate E2EE tunnels.

  • Outbound TCP 443: Must be open to internal-grpc.cipherscale.com.

  • Outbound UDP 3478: Must be open to internal-stun.cipherscale.com for NAT traversal.

Required Inbound Rules

  • Inbound UDP 51820 or a configured alternate port: WireGuard tunnel — device-to-gateway encrypted connections
