What are cipherscale Admission Rules?

Admission rules are conditions you configure that must be met before qualifying for access to cipherscale resources. These rules qualify the user for access based on the user’s location, time of day, and device characteristics. Admission rule criteria qualify a user for access but do not determine whether access should be allowed or denied to a particular resource. The Access Policy to which the admission rule is associated makes that decision.

Here is an example: An Admission Rule called ‘Windows only’ sets the condition that only devices running Windows OS are allowed. An Access Policy is created for user Bob to get access to salesforce.com, which uses the ‘Windows only’ Admission Rule. Now, when Bob, who is signed in using the cipherscale app, tries to access salesforce.com, cipherscale first checks whether Bob is qualified to access salesforce.com by seeing if Bob’s device meets the ‘Windows only’ Admission Rule criteria and only if the criteria are met provides access as per the Access Policy.
